Sept 2017: Pretty Green x Mathmos Collaboration

Posted on September 12th, 2017 by Mathmos

(A Great Christmas Gift for Men)

British menswear brand Pretty Green and inventors of the lava lamp Mathmos, have collaborated on a unique design to be launched in Pretty Green’s Carnaby Street windows as part of The London Design Festival on September 21st.

A limited edition variant on the astro, the first lava lamp designed in 1963 by Mathmos’ founder Edward Craven Walker. The two unique lava colour combinations are taken from Pretty Green’s signature paisley print. There is a bespoke box drawing from Mathmos’ 90s cartoon inspired graphics and etched brands on the glass.

The lamps are designed and made in Britain. The metal is spun by hand in Dorset, the bottles blown and etched in Yorkshire, the box printed in the Dorset countryside and the unique lava lamp formula is filled in the Mathmos factory in Poole.

Available exclusively from www.mathmos.com and www.prettygreen.com and Pretty Green’s stores at £85.

‘We think Pretty Green and Mathmos are a great fit; British brands with roots in 1960s pop culture. We loved the idea of working together and launching our collaboration on Carnaby Street is perfect. The design process was super easy, we liked their suggestions, they liked ours and I think the results are a pair of really desirable, collectable lamps.’

‘We’re really excited to present our AW17 collaboration with Mathmos; bringing together inspiration from our signature Paisley with their iconic British made Astro Lava Lamp, which makes unveiling them at this year’s London Design Festival the perfect showcase.’
