German speaking customer service / sales executive

full-time  c.£18k + bonus

You will have excellent written and spoken German and English language. You will have good keyboard skills and computer knowledge. You will have a personable phone manner and accurate administration skills. You will be reliable and conscientious.

The role involves supporting our international online sales by email and telephone. Customer service, order processing, managing Amazon and other online marketplaces. You will also be part of our small international sales and marketing team managing wholesale accounts worldwide.

Senior Technical, Design and Quality Officer

£30k - £40k per annum full time depending on skills and experience

(part time or freelance positions may also be a possibility for the right candidate)

Poole, Dorset (home or London working may be possible for part of the time)

Due to its global market leading position, Mathmos have an exciting opportunity to underpin the company's development and growth with new and improved products. Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year the company now needs the skills and support to move forward into its next half century.

Mathmos are currently looking for a senior designer / product developer with good technical experience to take primary responsability for the following functions;

  1. New Product Design and Development
  2. Compliance of all product with current regulations
  3. Product Quality though best practice design and supply chain managment

You will have several years experience designing and developing lighting or electrical products.  Working closely with the team at Mathmos you will co-ordinate the design and development of new products from concept to manufacture pulling in external designers and specialists as required.

You will have a good understanding of electronics and design engineering. You would have developed products for market with both UK and Far Eastern manufacturers. Ideally you will have knowledge of metal processes, plastics and glass. You will have the relevant CAD skills. You will probably have a industrial design, product design or engineering degree.

Working to a tight brief and budget you will work closely with the Mathmos team to develop both their lava lamp and LED ranges.  You will be a team player and be used to small company situations and solutions.

You will take responsability for product compliance. Working closely with test houses and the lighting association you will ensure current and future product is compliant to the latest regulations

You will be responsable for product quality ensuring that all products are suitably designed and manufactured to acheive the highest quality and this is underpinned by strategic engagement with our range of suppliers and subcontract partners.

Please note this position is not suitable for a recent graduate; 10 years relevent experience is essential.

Mathmos Design Internships - full or part time

Based in our Poole factory Mathmos offer unpaid placements providing fantastic hands on experience seeing products through from concept to sale.

You Need;

  • To have finished or be part way through a relevant design degree.

  • To live within a one hour commute of our factory: BH16 6LG. (We will pay either a petrol allowance or train fair (our factory is next to Holton Heath train station and has parking) plus lunch.

  • To be able to commit to a minimum of 4 months either full time or 3 days a week. (Please ensure you can afford to take an unpaid role before applying.)

  • A personable and willing attitude.

  • Solid Works and Adobe Suite are an advantage.

You will Receive Hands on Experience in the following areas;

  • Product design and development

  • Packaging Design

  • Product sourcing, supplier management

  • Setting AQLs and managing product quality

  • Exhibition design and execution
