Mathmos is growing and we have exciting plans for the future. We are looking for a number of people to join our friendly, tight knit team based in the lava lamp factory in Poole. We have parking on site and are next to Holton Heath railway station.

Mathmos Design Internships - full or part time

Mathmos offer placements providing fantastic hands on experience seeing products through from concept to sale. (NB. Only petrol or train fair and lunch are paid, please ensure you can afford an unpaid role before applying)

You Need;

  • To have finished or be part way through a relevant design degree.
  • To live within a one hour commute of our factory: BH16 6LG. 
  • To be able to commit to a minimum of 4 months either full time or 3 days a week. 
  • A personable and willing attitude.
  • Solid Works and Adobe Suite are an advantage.

You will Receive Hands on Experience in the following areas;

  • Product design and development
  • Packaging Design
  • Product sourcing, supplier management
  • Setting AQLs and managing product quality

Sales and Sales Admin. Manager (Ecommerce and Wholesale) - FILLED

From £25,000 to £30,000 per annum Plus Bonus of up to 30% of basic

You will be based in our Poole factory and manage a small team of 3 staff growing sales to the public through our own International websites and selected online market places. You will work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure that orders are processed efficiently and outstanding customer service is provided by you and your team. You will also manage Mathmos’ wholesale sales to businesses in the UK and abroad. You will aslo work with our Head of Web and Graphic design on digital marketing initiatives, social media and systems management. 

You will have at least 2 years of relevant sales admin experience ideally in e-Commerce or wholesale. You will have good administration skills and be able to learn e-commerce skills if you do not have them. You will be personable and have good customer and staff management skills. You will be flexible, hard working and reliable. You will be self-reliant yet a good team worker. You will handle stress well and be prepared for two months of hard work in the lead up to Christmas. You will have up to date I.T. skills and work to improve and automate Mathmos’ processes and systems. European languages would be an advantage.

Temporary Sales Admin / Customer Service / Sales Support Assistant - NOW FILLED

A temporary job starting ASAP until end of January 2017.  £9 per hour with £1k bonus to be paid at end of term. Hours: 9am-5pm Monday to Friday with half an hour for lunch. Come and work in friendly, tight knit team in the lava lamp factory.

  • Dealing with queries from online customers on the phone and by email
  • Processing orders
  • Various sales and admin. jobs

You should have;

  • Have excellent written and spoken English
  • Have good keyboard skills
  • Have good all round I.T. skills
  • Have a personable telephone manner
  • Can commit to work for the full term
  • Are flexible and a quick learner

Product Design and Development Engineer and Opperations Assistant - NOW FILLED

Salary: £25k - £30k 

An exciting opportunity to take a pivotal multi faceted role in a shaping the future of a well known British Heritage company.

Product Design & Development

Designing and Developing Mathmos’ lava lamp range. Working closely with external designers and specialists taking products from concept right through to sale. You will be involved with all aspects of product design and development, research and development, manufacturer sourcing and management, component sourcing, testing, compliance etc.

Operations Assistant

You will also assist the Operations Manager wherever required in purchasing, manufacturering, sub contractor management, transportation management, facilities management, Health and Safety, production planning etc.

You will be a Design / Engineering graduate with a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience. Systems orientated with good all round IT skills. Commercially pro active and aware. Reliable with great attention to detail. A good team player, very reliable, flexible and trustworthy.

Interested in developing all round skills in a small growing company and taking on more responsabilities over time.
