Assistant Operations Manager

Reporting to:     Operations Manager

Salary:             c. £30k depending on experience

This is a fantastic opportunity for an all rounder to develop their career in a well known niche company. You will work within the design and production team to bring great new and existing products to market.


  • Highly computer literature with good Microsoft office and ideally project management software skills.
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
  • Degree in engineering, design or related subject
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal at all levels. 
  • Project management experience.
  • A proven interest in the way things are made and keen to work in a niche manufacturing firm.
  • Self-motivated, able to work as part of a small team and extremely flexible.
  • Interested developing a career in a small but well established growing company.

A highly varied role assisting the Operations Manager in a wide variety of tasks including;

  • New Product Development
  • Product Upgrades
  • Purchasing
  • Purchasing Planning
  • Manufacturing Planning
  • Internal fulfilment
  • Management of fulfilment partners
  • Sourcing Components
  • Managing Suppliers
  • Production Management
  • Liaising with Test Houses and external contractors
  • Facilities management
  • Health and Safety

Design Internships - full or part time

Mathmos offer placements providing fantastic hands on experience seeing products through from concept to sale. (NB. Only petrol or train fair and lunch are paid, please ensure you can afford an unpaid role before applying)

You Need;

  • To have finished or be part way through a relevant design degree.
  • To live within a one hour commute of our factory: BH16 6LG. 
  • To be able to commit to a minimum of 4 months either full time or 3 days a week. 
  • A personable and willing attitude.
  • Solid Works and Adobe Suite are an advantage.

You will Receive Hands on Experience in the following areas;

  • Product design and development
  • Packaging Design
  • Product sourcing, supplier management
  • Setting AQLs and managing product quality
